2007 Dallas TX was the most exciting year I experienced at National Deaf Conference. March 19, 2007 I received the most incredible email from a Deaf lady named Jennifer Jones from GA. She had read a book called “The Father’s Blessing” written by Pastor John Arnott and had 3 questions to ask me about “Deaf” receiving the Holy Ghost and speaking in tongues.

This began a discourse of emails back and forth. I was able to connect her to Pam Nixon (interpreter) at a UPCI church in Atlanta, GA.  Although she was in leadership, she left her Baptist church and started attending Atlanta West Pentecostal Church on Easter Sunday. She was so hungry for the Holy Ghost – we emailed each other often as she had many questions.

I sent her all the Deaf Bible study resources I had and literally gave her the gospel by way of email since she didn’t have a VP at the time. July 15th she was baptized in Jesus name! Praise the Lord! Eight days later she came to our National Deaf Conference in Dallas TX – she wanted to experience The Father’s Blessing for herself. July 26th, just 4 months into her search for answers to her 3 questions, God kept his promise to her and gave her the Holy Ghost along with 10 others. Jennifer is the first lady in red, on the second row in the photo.

To my knowledge that is the MOST we ever had at National Deaf Conference to receive the Holy Ghost. I was so blessed to be involved in the harvest of the Lord that year. There is nothing like the sowing and reaping in the vineyard of our Lord. It is my prayer and desire to be involved again! MO District Superintendent Rev. Stephen Wiliford prophesied in the 2012 Deaf Conference promo video that “in this conference not only are we going to see the signing of human hands giving the services and the messages to the people… but we are going to see signs by the hand of God! God’s blessing is going to be on this conference”.

Padgett:I have some great news to tell you, and I’m so excited I can hardly stand it! Remember I told you my friend, Cindy, has been coming and assisting me in my sign classes on Tuesday evenings, but I couldn’t get her to attend church with me? Well, since I saw you at Renew, she has begun bringing her brother, sister-in-law, niece and mother to class. None of them sign, so they are new learners. Chrissy, Cindy’s sister-in-law, and Abby, her niece, have begun attending church. Chrissy is very hungry and seeking more than what she has. Anyway, last night, during the last 10 minutes or so of our class, we broke up, and I had the church sign team stay and practice a portion of the song we’re signing for Easter (Glorious Day by Casting Crowns). Cindy and her family sat and watched, and Cindy had tears in her eyes, came to me and told me she would be at church on Easter Sunday.
Sis. Padgett, this work that God has called me to is so much bigger than me. It can be overwhelming at times, but there is nothing in this world like the feeling of knowing you are reaching out to someone who desperately needs to hear the love and Word of God. Or the feeling of knowing you are standing in the dead center of His will for your life. Thank you for giving me direction and encouragement, I wouldn’t have gotten this far without your insight and the tools you’ve provided.

Darrell Ballweg, a Deaf member of Calvary Gospel Church in Madison, WI, was tragically shot and killed on Friday, Feb 3rd, 2012.

Please pray for Darrell’s family during this time of loss, especially his wife, Debbie, who was present when her
husband was shot in front of her.
